I Find Her In The Banana

Leaves

2009

oil on canvas

I love the intense colors in saturated

sunlight.  Colors, repeated patterns.

Banana trees always remind me of hot

Texas summer days in my grandmother's

backyard.  She lived in the Rio Grande

Valley of southern Texas.

Chickens, roosters, nopalitos and me

hiding under the giant banana leaves.

Cat With Pan Dulce

2009

acrylic on found wood

Cute little diptych painting on found

wood pieces.  Soft pinks, sea greens,

cherry woods, butter yellow.

I love the hot colors of the caked on

sugars of mexican sweet breads.

Hot Tea And Snail, Still Life

2009

acrylic on found wood, diptych

The shell of a snail, from its form, is a

natural symbol of the labyrinth, the spiral and

the underground cavern.

I love intense light and saturated color.

I also enjoy adding just a bit of

dimension through found

objects.

Fertility Goddess With Cat Hat

2009

acrylic on canvas

Throughout human history, all around the

world, in many cultures, fertility and the

female ability to reproduce has been

revered and worshipped.

Ancient cultures have always held in high

respect the

fact that women are the "doorway"

into this existance.

Fertility Goddesses represent fertility, life,

health, humanity.

Her Things, II

2009

oil on canvas

Early morning light, so warm.  The

sculptural and organic curves of the

shadows the mimic the shape of the bra

in a repetitive that is very complementary.

I just had to capture it!
